Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that now might be the right time to move on and take on a fresh challenge.

The 27-year-old Denmark international was a member of the Spurs side who recently lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League final, having joined the Londoners in the summer of 2013.

And his form in recent times is thought to have caught the attentions of the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Eriksen saying that he could consider a move to the right club.

He told Danish magazine Ekstra Bladet: "If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.

"I hope there will be a clarification during the summer, that's the plan.

"I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new.

"I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, but in football you do not know when clarification comes. It can happen any time.

"If nothing pops up that is more exciting, then why not stay in Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract, it depends on the conditions."

Eriksen has scored 66 goals in 276 appearances in all competitions since joining Spurs from Ajax, helping the club reach the final of the League Cup as well as the Champions League.

Tottenham are priced at 14/1 to win the Premier League title next season, while they are 4/6 to finish in the top four for the fifth season in a row.
