Former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo has advised Enyimba to make every goal opportunity count against Etoile du Sahel in their second round, first leg CAF Champions League clash in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Ekpo, believes North Africa teams are always difficult to play against. “They (North African teams) plan every of their game and they do everything humanly possible to win.

“I remember that based on what we know of them, we are always afraid of them,” he said.

“So we should take that fear out of us and play our game the way it should be played and do the necessary thing. They are not invincible, they are beatable on their own soil.”

Enyimba, who are the only surviving Nigerian club side left on the continent, will host Etoile inside the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The winner between the two teams will advance into the group stage of the competition.

Ekpo said: “They must take every goal opportunity that comes their way. Because when Etoile get back home, just like every North African team, they will use their advantage.

“So I will advise Enyimba to not just create chances but also put the ball in the net.”

The former midfielder, who lost the final of the 1988 CAF Champions League with Iwuanyanwu (Heartland) against Entet Setif of Algeria, also warned Enyimba against conceding a home goal.

“They should play safe by not allowing Etoile to score because it is very crucial. Once they score an away goal, they wouldn’t allow you do the same thing to them over there.

“So, they should play as a team and show seriousness and the will of a team who want to go far on the continent,” Ekpo added.
