English clubs in tug of war to sign Andre Ayew
English clubs will once again look to bloster their squad for the 2015-16 season when the current season comes to an end, and talented Ghana star Andre Ayew, who will be a free agent come off-season, has been watched closely by British clubs.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur are in tug of war to sign Marseille and Ghana superstar Andre Ayew when his contract expires with the French club at the end of the season.
The Ghanaian have been long-time fan of English Premier League, saying the league is the most competitive over the other leagues across Europe.
Since he has confirmed that he wants his next destination to be England several clubs in Britain have shown their interest in the speedy winger who can also play as a striker.
Liverpool are still searching for a capable replacement of Luis Suarez after Mario Balotelli failed to live up to the expectation since arriving at Anfield, and this has led to the Merseyside club being one of the front runners to land the talented Ghanaian forward.
Other teams who are interested in Ayew are Newcastle United, who are known to be good in signing French-based players with players such as Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, and Emmanuel Rivière among those who arrived at St James' Park in the past few seasons.
Borussia Dortmund, a German giant that won the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012 before finishing as runners up to Bayern Munich in the 2013 and 2014, are also challenging English clubs to sign the 25-year old despite the player preferring England as his next challenge.
Andre Ayew won the golden boot award at the recently concluded 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with three goals, and he led the Black Stars to the final of the tournament in Equatorial Guinea but lost 9-8 on penalties to Ivory Coast after the match finished goalless.
In France with Olympique de Marseille, Ayew has been a regular starter in the team with six goals so far this season and his side are still in the running for both Uefa Champions League spot and League 1 title as they are placed 3rd on the log with 53 points after 28 games, and trail 2nd placed PSG by 3 points while they are four points shy of leaders Lyon.
