England's international setup are exploring the possibility"? of Celtic's Moussa Dembele playing for the Three Lions, "?according to the Mirror.

Dembele has been in exceptional form so far this season, having scored 10 goals in 11 appearances for the Scottish champions, and is attracting attention from both England and France's international management teams.

The 20-year-old is close to completing the requisite five years of residence in the UK next year, having signed for Fulham when he was 16. With England's national team at one of it's lowest ebbs ever, the hope is that foreign talent brought through academies in England can be persuaded to represent the Three Lions at international level.

Despite England's attentions, Dembele will join up with the France U21 squad and is expected to make his debut for the side next week. Senior coach Didier Deschamps has reportedly monitored the progress of Dembele, and the former Fulham striker could be fast-tracked into the senior squad soon alongside the likes of established internationals Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Olivier Giroud.

England caretaker boss Gareth Southgate is currently in the midst of selecting his first squad for England's upcoming World Cup qualifiers. He will be without Harry Kane, who is currently injured, while there are a number of strikers who are desperately out of form. Wayne Rooney has struggled for goals in recent seasons, while Daniel Sturridge has been in and out of Liverpool's starting eleven this season.

There are calls for Troy Deeney to be called up, given the current lack of leaders in the squad, while Jermain Defoe also has a number of admirers claiming he should be involved in the England setup.
