El-Kanemi Warriors players and officials were ambushed by armed robbers along the Jos-Bauchi Road around 2 a.m. last Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com has gathered.

According to multiple reports, the team was returning to Maiduguri after a 2-0 defeat to Ikorodu City in Lagos during one of the NPFL Matchday 14 mid-week fixtures.

The attackers left several players injured and made away with valuables, including phones and cash.

The injured players were promptly taken to a nearby hospital in Bauchi for medical attention.

The injured have been treated, and the team is now back in Maiduguri.
