Eintracht Frankfurt claim 3-1 Bundesliga win at Mainz

Eintracht Frankfurt scored three times to beat Mainz 3-1 in the third round of the Bundesliga.

The visitors took the lead after nine minutes when Can Uzun finished a swift attacking move with a precise effort from the edge of the six-yard box.

Mainz responded before half-time. Jonathan Burkardt went through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and made no mistake to level the score.

Mainz had also been awarded a penalty shortly before that equaliser, but Nadiem Amiri was denied when the goalkeeper saved his attempt.

The match remained evenly contested for much of the opening hour, although Eintracht Frankfurt were more clinical in front of goal. The visitors restored their advantage as Uzun scored his second of the game with another close-range finish.

Mainz could only reduce the deficit with a consolation goal, leaving Eintracht Frankfurt with a 3-1 victory.

Both Mainz and Eintracht Frankfurt have four points from their opening three Bundesliga matches.
