Nigerian striker, Chuba Akpom has put up once again a fine display in the Middlesbrough shirt after his brace on Saturday in the English Championship, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

His brace helped his club to a resounding five nil victory against Reading FC at the Riverside Stadium as he took his tally to 21 goals this season.

His first goal came from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after Yiadom was penalised for handball.

Aaron Ramsey made it two before the end of the first half after great individual brilliance.

Akpom made it three and his second as he lashed on to the ball from Ryan Giles four minutes into the second half.

Ramsey scored his scored courtesy of an  assist from Ryan Giles before substitute Marcus Forss scored from the penalty spot after being upended in the 75th minute.

Akpom becomes the first Middlesbrough player to score 21 League goals in a season since Bernie Slavens (1989/90) in a league campaign.

He also equalled Slaven’s haul of 21 league goals 33 years ago and also becomes the first Boro player to score 14 home goals in one season since Fabrizio Ravanelli in 1996-97.

He will be most likely make his Super Eagles debut against Guinea Bissau this month.

It now 7 home wins in a row for Middlesbrough, 14 wins in their last 18 matches.
