Edo Queens will end the year on top in group B of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League season after recording a 1-0 win over reigning champions, Delta Queens on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Moses Aduku led team got their vital win over the Asaba side courtesy of a goal by Esther Moses in the second half at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The first half had ended goalless, but a 59th strike was all the Edo State based team needed to edge their South-South counterpart.

The win sees Edo Queens finish top of group B with 12 points after 6 matches at the end of the year after Bayelsa Queens' loss to Robo Queens.

Another group B match, South-West derby match between Sunshine Queens and Remo Stars Ladies ended 2-1 in favour of Sunshine Queens.

Akwubo Obianuju and Chinaza Soroibe scored for the Ladies Akure before Isigbo Blessing pulled one back for the visitors.

In group A, strugglers and bottom of the group, Royal Queens recorded their first of the season after a 1-0 over Adamawa Queens.

The Warri based side scored through Raheem Aishat in the 18th minute and it was enough to give them the maximum points at the Sapele Township Stadium.

Just like Bayelsa Queens in group B, Confluence Queens also lost their first match of the season after conceding their first goal of the season against Nasarawa Amazons.
