Empoli at the Stadio Castellani on Monday evening labored to a 1-0 win over Sampdoria, a result condemned the visitors to nineteent in the league, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Both teams came at each in the first half with the Sampdoria Mehdi Leri’s header hitting the crossbar before Martin Satriano had the best chance but sent his volley over the bar minutes before the break.

The second half brought both goals and controversy. Ebuehi pounced on a Razvan Marin corner from the left, squeezing past Samp’s defenders and catching Emil Audero in no man’s land giving the Tuscan a 1-0 lead.

Empoli goalkeeper, Vicario produced two more incredible saves on Lammers and Colley, but Sampdoria scored through the Gambian centre-back in the stoppages after a free kick.

However, VAR spotted a handball from Manolo Gabbiadini leading to the goal.

Empoli are now 12th on the log after eighteen games, all thanks to Ebuehi’s first goal in the league.
