Dunkwa United FC owner Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane has threatened to quit if the club’s hooligans persist.

The club is renowned for its crowd violence especially during home games and that has alarmed the medical practitioner.

Dr. Nawaane fears the club is deviating from its values and aspirations.

He hinted that the club was making arrangements to get recalcitrant and troublesome supporters arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

“It is not entirely true that I have threatened to opt out of football club administration but should supporters continue not to comport themselves at our matches, then I would be left with no other option than to bow out,” he told Dunkwa-based Solar FM.

“I have had to pay GHc3, 250.00 in fines alone so far this season as a result of crowd indiscipline. This is just a figment of the cost the club incurs when supporters misbehave at our matches at home.

“Sometimes, some injured fans are brought to my hospital for free treatment at the expense of the hospital and that in itself is not easy at all for me to bear. Who knows how much we are going to be fined in future if these antiquated acts do not stop? Can’t we better the lots of the players with these monies?.

“I have had my GHc1, 000 spectacle destroyed trying to restore order at one of our matches and it doesn’t speak well of a club, whose supporters are yearning for elite football. This tells me Dunkwa is not ready for Premier League football and so it is either they stop or I quit bankrolling the club.

“There have been times that we have won matches away from home unscathed and so we should understand that we are also beatable as well.

“The likes of Ebusua Dwarfs, Bibiani Gold Stars and Elmina Sharks are crack sides and so we should understand that if we manage to beat them at their own backyards, in the same vein, they can also beat us here in Dunkwa.”
