Midfielder Danny Drinkwater is determined to try and relaunch his career after agreeing a loan move to Burnley, having fallen out of favour with Chelsea.

The 29-year-old, who has three England caps to his name, has initially moved to Turf Moor until January, with a longer-term stay dependent on how Drinkwater gets on in the coming months.

I see this as a positive move and I'm looking forward to getting going.

And the former Leicester City man is eager to make the most of the opportunity presented to him, having struggled to make an impact in his two seasons at Stanford Bridge.

He told the official Burnley FC website: "It was a bit of a complicated time at Chelsea, but I see this as a positive move and I'm looking forward to getting going.

"Unfortunately it's not happened for me at Chelsea, but you have to go with the flow.

"I think now the target is to get to a level where the manager is happy with my fitness and to keep moving forward and working hard."

Former Manchester United youngster Drinkwater, who was a Premier League winner with Leicester in 2016, did not feature at all in the top-flight last season, having made just 12 appearances during his first season with Chelsea.

Burnley start the new Premeir League season with a visit from Southampton on Saturday and the Clarets are 7/4 to win the game and 9/4 to earn a draw.
