Doma United Shock Enyimba to Maintain Perfect NPFL Start
Doma United maintained their perfect start to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season on Saturday, defeating nine-time champions Enyimba 2-0 at the Pantami Stadium to underline their early title credentials, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The newly promoted Savannah Tigers have now won all three of their opening matches, collecting nine points without conceding a single goal.
Sadiq Rilwan put Doma United ahead in the 32nd minute after the hosts dominated large spells of the first half and deservedly went into the break with the lead.
Enyimba struggled to respond after falling behind, with the experienced Aba giants unable to find a breakthrough against a disciplined Doma United defence.
The hosts remained organised after the restart and eventually added a second goal in the 76th minute through Fantami Yusuf, effectively putting the contest beyond the visitors.
The victory leaves Doma United on nine points from three matches, having scored five goals while keeping three consecutive clean sheets.
Their impressive run began with a 2-0 home victory over fellow newcomers Sporting Lagos before they followed it up with a 1-0 away triumph against Inter Lagos.
The victory over Enyimba represents their biggest statement yet, with the Savannah Tigers showing they can compete with one of the most decorated clubs in Nigerian football.
For Enyimba, the result leaves them facing a worrying start to the campaign, with the Aba club yet to pick up a point after their opening two league fixtures.
The encounter was one of the standout fixtures on the Matchday 3 schedule, but Doma United once again stole the spotlight with another assured performance.
The Savannah Tigers will look to preserve their unbeaten record when they travel to face Kano Pillars on September 20.
