Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong says he would understand either decision over whether the club’s next La Liga match against Atletico Madrid should be postponed.

The fixture is among a number of matches in Spanish football that could be delayed following a tragedy in Segunda. Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel died in hospital after being involved in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper.

Asked whether Barcelona’s match should be rearranged, De Jong said: “I would understand if it was postponed, but if they decide to play it, I would understand that too. It is not for me to decide,” according to comments from the Netherlands midfielder quoted by Barca Universal.

Barcelona’s away match against Atletico Madrid is scheduled to take place on 8 November.
