Ghana attacker David Accam netted his third goal of the MLS campaign but his strike was not enough as Chicago Fire slipped to a 3-1 loss at DC United on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old powered Frank Yallop's side into the lead with an exquisite 28th minute finish from a Quincy Amarikwa twerking crossfield pass.
Accam popped up between two United players inside the box and brilliantly sliced the ball past the host keeper to put the visitors ahead for his third goal of the campaign.
But that strike was not enough as Jairo Arrieta scored twice to add to a Conor Doyle 75th minute effort to give a 3-1 victory to United.
Accam is expected to play for Fire on Saturday before flying down to Accra to join the Black Stars squad for their 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.
