After the final whistle of Parma’s 1-0 loss vs. Hellas Verona, the Crociati coach Roberto D’Aversa met with journalists in the press room at the Tardini.

“We’re not looking for reasons for the defeat, we lost because they were more determined than us in the first ten minutes. For the goal Lazovic hit the ball with determination after a few rebounds, in similar situations we weren’t determined; then there were blocks in front of their goal, the crossbar."

“Hellas Verona have picked up fewer points in their last few games than their play has merited; they are a team who concede very little, they showed today that they have the superior defence. Moreover they created a lot of chances in the final third. If we’re looking at this evening’s game, and we take out the goal and their quick start in the first ten minutes, we’ve not reaped the rewards our creative play deserved. Looking at the chances we had and Gervinho hitting the crossbar we weren’t lucky tonight, although I don’t like to talk about good luck or bad luck.”

On Gagliolo’s absence and the deep fullbacks: "They were excellent in pressuring us when they defended. They are a team who play with vertical aggression and they don’t let you play vertically. Their stikers occupy the central defenders and that creates a lot of responsibility for the fullbacks, so we kept them back for the first 15 to 30 minutes. They are very good at going forward through the way they defend on the front foot, which does mean that they can have problems when you attack the space in behind.”

On Kucka: "He’s doing well, it’s been a non-stop period for him, he played more matches for his national team than he’s had training sessions, for the sake of continuity we want to occasionally rest him during on-going matches, but we can’t do that. He fights for every single ball, I like his determination, his desire to get a result; we’ll find the brilliance later.”
