Daramy remains at Reims as Bourabaa’s rise draws Algeria attention

Mohamed Daramy will remain with Stade de Reims after the club rejected his request to leave during the latest transfer window.

The forward, who is of Sierra Leonean origin, is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2028. His future had come under scrutiny after he revealed that he had asked for permission to depart.

Daramy’s comments were reported by Reims VDT, but Reims’ directors opposed a separation as they sought to preserve the squad’s competitiveness for the current season. The decision means the player remains part of the professional first-team group.

Boutabout’s role in Bourabaa’s breakthrough

Bourabaa has made a strong impression with Le Mans, but his route to the club was far from straightforward. The player was released by Troyes after a spell with Leganes’ reserve team, before his prospects suffered another setback when ESTAC’s directors turned down the possibility of offering him a new contract.

His progress was followed closely by Mansour Boutabout, who had watched the midfielder during his time at Troyes. Convinced that Bourabaa had significant room for development, the former Algeria international told Maghreb-Foot that he intervened with Boufia officials to help complete the player’s move.

Boutabout also played an important role when Bourabaa signed for Le Mans FC, providing what was described as decisive expertise during the process.

The player has since become one of the notable Algerian talents to emerge at the club, combining his success at Le Mans with growing recognition at international level.

Bourabaa was recommended by Boutabout to Algeria scout Mohsen Haimour and Under-23 coach Rafik Saifi. Those recommendations quickly brought him to the attention of the national-team staff.

His performances have now placed him among the African players attracting attention at the beginning of the Ligue 1 season, while his development at Le Mans continues to strengthen his profile in Algeria.
