Dallas FC technical director Fernando Clavijo has denied reports they made an offer to sign Michael Essien.

Clavijo says reports that an offer was extended to the 33-year-old and subsequently refused is not accurate.

Media reports claimed last week that the America League Soccer side had tabled an offer to sign the AC Milan midfielder, with fresh reports emerging Essien had turned the offer down.

But Dallas FC technical director Fernando Clavijo has revealed there was no such offer despite their admiration for the Ghana international.

“No, it’s not accurate. No, it’s not at all. We know Michael Essien of course. Everybody knows him, but we didn’t offer anything at all,” Clavijo told Dallas news.

Milan are reportedly looking to sell Essien before his contract expires with Dallas reportedly making an offer for the midfielder, who has made nine appearances for Milan this season.

Prior to joining Milan, Essien played seven seasons for Chelsea, as well as a one-year loan spell with Real Madrid.
