In a LigaMX press conference on Wednesday, Cruz Azul midfielder Luis Romo declared that manager Juan Reynoso has done a good job in insulating the team from outside influences by saying:

"Things coming from the outside are rebounding on us, we are very closed off, very united, we are very strong psychologically, in and out of the pitch" while adding "Whatever critique you guys have (the media, editor's note) we leave all that aside, you'll keep reiterating it and the only way to change that and spark positive talk is to finally win a title". Cruz Azul have not won a league title in 23 years, despite coming very close in recent seasons, most recently losing a Final to fierce rivals Club America.

Romo also spoke about his National Team call-up; "I saw the list come out, and I'm on it. As I've always said, I'm very proud to represent my Country. If I can win the title with Cruz Azul, that would serve as a strong motivator for whatever comes next with the Natrional team"
