Could Manchester United's Latest Target Bernard Mensah cope with the Old Trafford heat?
According to The Express, Manchester United are interested in purchasing 20-year-old Ghanaian Bernard Mensah from Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães SC.
In a similar circumstance to their acquisition of PSV’s Memphis Depay, manager Louis Van Gaal wants to grab his target before the looming Inter Milan and Valencia act quicker.
The Accra born attacking midfielder, who can also play at left wing and central midfield, has scored only 4 goals this season-all near the beginning of the campaign but one most notably against Porto- and assisted three in Portuguese league Liga NOS.
Additionally, he has been victim to two disciplinary suspensions in his 28 matches but isn’t an injury prone headache.
His form in the league has impressed the Ghana’s National Team and has resulted in a national call up but he might not be completely suitable for the Manchester United team at this moment.
The trophy pressure on Louis van Gaal requires ready-made players and there is something about the low £1.76 million price tag that’s off putting.
Overall, Manchester United’s options in attacking midfield have been plentiful with Juan Mata, Maroune Fellani, Wayne Rooney, Angel di Maria and Luke Young showing their danger in that area.
However if Van Gaal decides to arrange players in their natural positions in next season’s tactics-pushing Wayne Rooney up front- and decides to off load Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao then maybe there is a vacancy for a new player.
The Manchester United manager has high standards; as demonstrated by his unapologetic farewells for Danny Welbeck and Wilifried Zaha, therefore Bernard Mensah would have to take the Premier League like a duck to water to make the transfer worth while.
