Cottagers aim to keep Mitrovic
Fulham remain keen to try and keep star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic at the club to try and spearhead a challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old Serbia international has been a big hit since joining the Cottagers, initially on loan, from Newcastle United in February 2018.
I am doing everything I can to keep him.
Tony Khan
He netted 12 goals in 17 Championship games during the 2017/18 season as Fulham secured promotion to the top-flight via the play-offs, while last term in the Premier League he scored 11 times in 37 appearances.
That return was not enough to help the Cottagers avoid the drop, but vice-chairman Tony Khan is determined to keep Mitrovic at the club to aid the bid for a second promotion in three seasons.
He told the Fulhamish podcast, as reported in the Evening Standard: "I would like to retain as many of our key players as possible and that includes Aleksandar Mitrovic.
"We made a big investment to get him here and I believe in him. Last season he played so hard for us and he sets a great tone in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"I am doing everything I can to keep him. I have a great relationship with him and we have had a lot of talks. He loves Fulham, he loves the club, he loves the people here, he loves his team-mates."
Fulham are priced at 8/1 to win the Championship next season, while they are 9/4 to secure promotion and 10/11 to be the top London club in the division.
