Corica takes heart from PSG loss
Sydney FC head coach Steve Corica was pleased with the number of chances his side created in their 3-0 pre-season defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Sky Blues had a goal disallowed before the French Ligue 1 champions took the lead in the clash in Suzhou, China.
We lacked scoring goals, but we created the chances and I was pleased that we created the chances.
Steve Corica
It was their last match before they start their domestic season with an FFA Cup round of 32 game against Brisbane Roar next week.
Corica said: "We did hurt them a few times with penetrating passes and forward runs in behind the defence.
"I think our attack was quite good, we lacked scoring goals, but we created the chances and I was pleased that we created the chances."
Speaking of PSG, the coach added: "Defensively they're a good team and they work hard for each other. You can see they're quality and they've got quality all over the park."
The Sky Blues thought they had taken the lead nine minutes before the break when Alex Baumjohann's cross found the head of Rhyan Grant with Milos Ninkovic then tapping in, but Grant was adjudged to be offside in the build-up.
Keeper Andrew Redmayne had earlier got his fingertips to a back heel from Edinson Cavani that almost sneaked inside the far post.
Ander Herrera then fired just wide with a stinging snap shot from the edge of the box.
PSG went ahead just after Sydney FC's disallowed goal, when Kylian Mbappe played a one-two before firing home at the near post.
Cavani volleyed past Redmayne two minutes before the interval to double their lead following good work from Pablo Sarabia and Julian Draxler.
The final effort of the first half came from Adam le Fondre for the Sky Blues, his shot from just inside the area fizzing past the upright.
Off-season signing Luke Brattan had Sydney FC's best opportunity of the second half, with keeper Kevin Trapp palming away a fierce drive.
The A-League side conceded a third goal a minute from time when Metehan Guclu's neat backheel left Redmayne helpless.
Sydney FC are 4/1 to win the A-League Grand Final, while the Sky Blues are 3/1 to win the FFA Cup.
