West Brom head coach, Carlos Corberán has heaped praise on Josh Maja after the Nigerian forward's impressive hat-trick in their 3-1 win over Queen Park Rangers on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Maja's superb display made him the first Albion player to score three goals in the opening game of a league season since Alf Bentley in 1913-14.

Corberán lauded Maja's performance, saying: "Josh Maja has had a very good level of impact on the game because it's not easy to score three goals, and all three had a lot of quality."

However, the manager also emphasized the need to manage Maja's minutes carefully, given his limited playing time last season due to injury.

But with Josh Maja, after one season without playing many games, we have to manage his minutes well and this is one of the positions we need to strengthen because we need to protect every single player.”
