Shooting Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbote is refusing to give up on his team's chances of securing a continental spot despite a 1-0 defeat to Rivers United on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The defeat dented Shooting Stars' hopes of finishing third in the league, which would guarantee a place in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

However, Ogunbote believes his team can still achieve their objective with three games remaining.

"We have two home games and one away game left, just like every other team," Ogunbote told the club's media as par Daily Post.

"It's not over until it's over. We'll regroup, pick ourselves up, and see what we can get from these three games. Maybe we can bounce back, which would be great for us."

Shooting Stars currently occupy fourth place with 57 points, two points behind Remo Stars in third.

The Oluyole Warriors will host league leaders, Rangers at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Wednesday, a crucial match for both teams.
