Como 4-1 RB Leipzig: Fabregas hails ‘historic’ Champions League debut

Cesc Fabregas described Como’s 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig as a historic night after the Italian club made an impressive debut in the Champions League on Thursday.

The result allowed Como to meet the standards expected in Europe’s elite club competition, according to their manager.

“It was a historic evening for the club and the fans, who will still be talking about it in 10 years’ time,” Fabregas told reporters.

“That’s the beauty of football, I hope the fans enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Fabregas, formerly a midfielder for Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea, retired from playing at Como in 2023. He then joined the club’s coaching staff before taking charge as manager.

The Champions League victory came after Como collected seven points from their opening three Serie A matches of the season.

Como’s next fixture is at home to Parma on Monday.
