Relative position in the Western Conference standings meant nothing on Friday as the Colorado Rapids defeated LAFC 1-0 at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver.

Danny Wilson scored with a powerful header from a corner kick four minutes into the second half and the poorest defence in MLS then proceeded to stonewall LAFC at every opportunity.

The Rapids are unbeaten in seven games in league play and moved off the bottom of the Western Conference into 10th place, ahead of Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers, with the win.

Colorado was stunned by USL side New Mexico United in the US Open Cup, but otherwise it has been a complete change around in form for the Rapids.

Even so, getting the better of the Conference leaders was something of a surprise, not least in halting Carlos Vela's scoring streak at seven games.

LAFC still leads the Conference by six points over the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Galaxy are one of 18 MLS sides in action on Saturday with nine games on the slate.

LA is in San Jose to play the Earthquakes. San Jose in unbeaten in five straight MLS games and have moved up to fifth in the Western Conference following their 2-0 triumph over the Houston Dynamo.

Meanwhile the Seattle Sounders, tied for third in the Conference with FC Dallas, welcome in the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Sounders are winless in five games in all competitions and have suffered four consecutive losses.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is priced at 11/2 to be the leading scorer in the MLS this season with Carlos Vela 1/2 and Wayne Rooney 40/1.
