Nigerian born midfielder, Tom Dele-Bashiru has revealed his teammate and former Manchester United forward, Tom Cleverly was a big part of his stay at the Hornets, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 24 year-old had a year left on his contract but put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the option of an additional year.

The Nigerian youth international who had his best season with the London club last season admitted Cleverly played a key role in his new contract.

“A few things influenced me in wanting to stay; Clevs was a big part.” Dele-Bashiru shared with the club’s media.

“When he came in towards the end of last season he put a lot of confidence and faith in me, and he was very influential, so he played a big part in me wanting to stay.”

Tom scored three goals in 38 league appearances for the SkyBet Championship outfit.
