NPFL UPDATE: Clement Still Confident Rangers’ Slow Start Does Not Stop Them
Enugu Rangers forward Bobby Clement is confident the club will recover from their poor start to the season and mount a successful title defence in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Flying Antelopes have tasted victory only once, drawn thrice and lost one of their five games in the campaign so far.
The Coal City side are 12th position in the table, seven points adrift of surprise leaders, Plateau United.
"To say we are unhappy with how things have turned out for us since the start of the season will be an understatement," Clement, a key member of the Rangers squad that won the NPFL title for the first time in 32 years last term, told our sports team.
"I want to apologise to our fans for our disappointing showing so far but they can be sure things will improve soon.
"Our target is to retain the title and I don't think we are too far off Plateau United at the moment."
Next in line for Clement and his teammates is a trip to Nnewi where they will come up against South-East rivals, FC IfeanyiUbah.
The former Heartland striker is expecting a tough outing but is upbeat his side can claim maximum points in the game.
"We recently played against them (FC Ifeanyiubah) in the Super Four competition and they gave us a tough fight.
"We are not expecting anything different this time around as they will be more daring playing in front of their fans.
"For us, it's a win or bust situation as we cannot afford to let our fans down down again."
