Scotland boss Steve Clarke believes his side are showing signs of improvement despite their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium on Tuesday night.

Having secured a narrow win over Cyprus in his first game in charge, Clarke oversaw his side well beaten by a star-studded Belgium side in Brussels.

The former Kilmarnock boss has only been in the job for a short time but already the experienced coach feels he is starting to see progress made by the squad in their recent Euro 2020 qualifiers.

"They want to get better," said Clarke. "I think we have shown with the work we have done in this camp that there have been improvements, but there has to be more. We have to be better with the ball when we have it.

"We have things to work on but the overall feeling I have is that we have grown a little bit as a squad of players already and in the next camp we should grow again.

"It's two vital home qualifiers [Russia and Belgium] against the two favourites to come out of the group. We have to be ready for that."

Scotland are 7/1 to finish in the top two of their Euro 2020 qualifying group.
