THERE may be those wondering why Jose Mourinho has gone for his counterpart at Everton, Roberto Martinez, with such vigour over John Stones' potential move to Chelsea.

It appears the Portuguese may have a problem with his fellow Iberian following Christian Atsu's loan spell on Merseyside last season.

Chelsea are happy for several fringe members of their squad to receive Premier League exposure away from Stamford Bridge.

And so it was with Atsu (above).

But Everton hardly played the Ghanian either before or after his spell at the African Cup of Nations.

It seems Mourinho was not pleased - which explains why relations between the two are so frosty.
