Danish defender Andreas Christensen says he is now content to stay put at Chelsea, having previously hinted at making a summer exit.

The 23-year-old central defender was unhappy at a lack of starting opportunities during the first half of last season, but his mood improved after he played a prominent role in helping the Blues win the Europa League.

I'm only 23, so it's probably very wise to stay.

And Christensen now has no concerns about his immediate future, which he is confident lies at Stamford Bridge.

He told the Evening Standard: "I'm not wondering about my future now and I haven't done that for some time.

"I'm happy to be in London and, with the way the season has evolved, there's no reason to think about it anymore. I'm only 23, so it's probably very wise to stay.

"I have always been happy, but there have been times when I wanted to play more. If I can play as much in the future as I have done in the spring, then that's fine.

"The end of the season has really been as good as it could be. I got a lot of playing time and we ended up winning a trophy, so it couldn't be better."

Christensen has made more than 70 first-team appearances for Chelsea to date, having the 2015/16 and 2016/17 season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Blues are 11/10 to finish in the top four in the Premier League next season, while they are available at 20/1 to claim the title.
