Christantus Uche leads Getafe to victory over Celta Vigo
Christantus Uche has kick-started the 2025/2026 La Liga season with a bang, pulling a man-of-the-match performance to help Getafe win Celta Vigo in their first match of the season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder scored a goal and provided an assist in Getafe's 2-0 win over Celta Vigo away at Balaídos on Sunday.
Uche's great display almost saw him score the opener following an effort that grazed the post after 39 minutes, as the score remained goalless at halftime.
Two minutes into the second half, Adrián Liso broke the deadlock following a powerful run by Uche, who found the Spaniard to score.
In 72 minutes, Uche turned scorer, beating the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation before slotting home beyond the approaching Celta Vigo defender who tried to stop the ball from entering the net.
The 22-year-old went home with the man of the match award at the end of the final whistle.
