Chelsea consider next move for Mykhailo Mudryk after Tottenham approach

Tottenham have contacted Chelsea to ask about a possible loan move for Ukraine winger Mykhailo Mudryk, according to The Athletic.

The enquiry comes with Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi already familiar with the 25-year-old from their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk. Mudryk enjoyed his most productive spell under the Italian coach during the 2021-22 season, when he scored two goals and provided nine assists.

Chelsea are considering a number of options for Mudryk as the London club assesses his next step. Tottenham’s approach is one of the latest developments in that process, while French club Strasbourg are also reported to be interested.

Chelsea previously rejected a loan proposal from Leeds for Mudryk. The decision leaves the player’s future unresolved, with Tottenham now having made their interest known and other possible destinations still being considered.

Mudryk has not played for Chelsea in an official match since November 2024. In July 2026, after his case involving a breach of anti-doping rules was resolved, he was cleared to return to training and take part in matches.

A move to Tottenham would reunite Mudryk with De Zerbi, who worked with the winger at Shakhtar Donetsk. During the 2021-22 campaign, Mudryk scored twice and set up nine goals while playing under the Italian’s management.

Chelsea’s position means that any potential transfer remains dependent on the club’s assessment of the available options, including the interest from Tottenham, Leeds and Strasbourg. Leeds have already seen a loan offer turned down, while Tottenham’s enquiry indicates that the possibility of a temporary move remains under discussion.

Mudryk’s absence from Chelsea’s official matches since November 2024, followed by his return to football-related activities after the anti-doping case was settled, forms the background to the current situation. With Chelsea considering alternatives and Tottenham having contacted them, the Ukrainian winger’s next club remains to be decided.
