Champions Remo Stars end Ikorodu City top 3 dream
Already confirmed champions, Remo Stars put a sword to the hearts of fellow south west team, Ikorodu City, after they defeated them on Sunday in the match day 37 fixture of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Sky Blue Stars came from behind to beat Ikorodu City 4-1 in the south west derby played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
After 15 minutes played, Tosin Oyedokun, with a pile driver from outside the box, broke the deadlock to give the visitors the lead.
However, things turned around when Sikiru Alimi pounced on a loose ball, hit underneath the goalkeeper to level the score after 37 minutes played.
Ibrahim Shuaib side-footed home a clinical finish off a brilliant assist by Babatunde Bello to put the hosts in the lead on 41 minutes.
In the second half, Birthday boy, Bello Babatunde, moved from assisting to scoring the third goal for Remo Stars following a cute corner kick routine in the 48th minute.
Olamilekan Adedayo, with the fourth goal, consolidated victory in the 67 minutes for the Ikenne side as they ended the tie with an emphatic win to celebrate their trophy presentation.
