Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu, has expressed strong confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to win the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

Hon. Amadu, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, believes Nigeria’s quality of players and their performances in Europe provide enough reason for optimism.

Reacting to the AFCON 2025 draw, which placed Nigeria in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda, he urged the players to remain focused and avoid complacency.

"Yes, the group looks simple, but the players must not assume victory before stepping on the pitch. Overconfidence is dangerous in football, and no opponent should be underestimated," Hon. Amadu stated during an interview on NTA AM Sports on Tuesday morning.

He further emphasized the importance of teamwork and determination:

"No doubt, we have the talent, but we must play like wounded lions to qualify from the group and reach the final. If the team plays together, remains mentally and physically prepared, and fights for the trophy, then, Insha Allah, we will win."

Additionally, he called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to put the necessary structures in place for proper preparation.

"The NFF must, as a matter of urgency, ensure thorough preparations to create an easy path to victory."

Hon. Amadu also referenced Nigeria’s narrow loss to Ivory Coast in the 2023 AFCON final and back-to-back African Player of the Year wins by Nigerian players as proof of the country’s growing dominance in African football.

The Super Eagles will kick off their AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania in their first group match.
