Carlos Baleba made his first Premier League start for Manchester United as the Red Devils drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday, 18 October 2026.

The Cameroon midfielder was named in Michael Carrick’s starting XI for the seventh-round fixture, lining up alongside Andrey Santos in the centre of the pitch.

Baleba played 74 minutes before being substituted. He completed 25 of his 29 passes, recording an 86% passing accuracy, and also attempted one shot that failed to hit the target.

The 22-year-old contributed defensively with one successful tackle, although he was also penalised for two fouls. He did not register a goal or assist but gained valuable playing time in a Premier League match known for its intensity.

The appearance was Baleba’s second consecutive start in all competitions. He had also been selected from the beginning for Manchester United’s Champions League match against Atletico de Madrid on 13 October.

That run of starts represents a continued show of confidence from Carrick and gives Baleba further opportunity to become familiar with his team-mates and adapt to the manager’s demands. It could also help him gradually establish a more significant role in Manchester United’s midfield during the club’s upcoming fixtures.

Manchester United’s next Champions League assignment will be against Como in the third matchday of the league phase. The fixture is listed with odds of 2.15 for a Como win, 3.50 for a draw and 2.75 for a Manchester United victory.
