Carlisle United boss Keith Curle has praised Ghanaian striker Kevin Osei after climbing off the bench to score in the side’s 3-1 extra-time win over Chesterfield in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Osei helped his introduction in the game by scoring the third goal for the side to ensure their passage to the next round of the competition.

And manager Keith Curle was thrilled with the output of the former Marseille youngster.

“There were some people on the bench next to me with a minute-and-a-half of the game left saying ‘take it in the corner, take it in the corner’ and I’ve got to admit I was one of them,” he

“And then he does that. He’s got that in his bag, he’s got the unpredictability in his play which I like, it’s exactly the same with Bastien Hery. He’s got flair, ability, sees a pass, he’s different.

“He does do some frustrating things at times, but you accept it because he sees things and you want him to go and express himself. And they get license to do that, ideally in the opposition’s half, not in and around the half-way line.”
