"?"?Cardiff City have announced via their"? official website that much-travelled manager Neil Warnock will take control of the club's vacant managerial position following the departure of Paul Trollope.

Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson will join Warnock as assistant manager and first-team coach respectively, while existing staff members James Rowberry, Martyn Margetson and Lee Southernwood will continue as part of Neil's immediate back-room team.

The former QPR, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United manager left Rotherham in the summer, having led the club to safety in the championship, but declined the opportunity to stay.

Despite his oft-repeated claim that his current job will be his last, he joins Cardiff with the mandate of attempting to salvage their season and making a charge for the promotion.

The Bluebirds' poor league form, currently stranded in 23rd place in the Championship, led to the sacking of Trollope, who recorded just two wins in eleven games at the Welsh club. Having suffered back-to-back defeats against Derby and Burton, his position was considered untenable.

Neil Warnock arrives in South Wales with considerable experience and expectation at a club that were only in the Premier League three seasons ago. The journeyman coach is now at his 14th club in his career at the age of 67.

Speaking to the "?BBC, Danny Gabbidon backed his former boss: "This Cardiff job is a difficult job, it's not suited to everyone. You have to have the right personality and the right credentials.

"He's a very good man-manager, he's good at working on a tight budget and getting the right players in."
