Cameroon make winning start to 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Cameroon began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a controlled 3-1 victory over Comoros in Group G at the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua.

The Indomitable Lions dominated possession, enjoying 67% of the ball as they maintained control and created the better of the opportunities throughout the match.

Their pressure finally produced an opening goal in the 39th minute, when D. Nyengue finished from Danny Namaso’s pass shortly before half-time.

Cameroon extended their advantage just three minutes after the restart. Bryan Mbeumo struck in the 48th minute to put the hosts firmly in command.

Comoros responded quickly, with W. Omari reducing the deficit in the 51st minute. The visitors’ goal briefly offered them a route back into the contest, but Cameroon soon reasserted their authority.

Namaso completed a strong individual performance by scoring the third goal in the 81st minute. Junior Tchamadeu provided the assist as the hosts secured a convincing opening victory.

The result puts Cameroon at the top of Group G after the first round of matches. Their success was built on an efficient attacking display, with Namaso contributing a goal and an assist.

David Pagou’s side will now prepare for their next fixture, an away match against Congo.
