CAF announce dates for 2024 Championship of African Nations qualifiers
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the schedule for the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The qualifiers will take place in two rounds:
First Round: 25-27 September and 1-3 November 2024
Second Round: 20-22 December and 27-29 December 2024
CAF President Patrice Motsepe previously announced the qualifiers would take place in October 2024, but the competition department has now provided the detailed dates.
Hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will automatically qualify for the final tournament, alongside the team with the best result in the CECAFA qualifiers.
An additional slot will be awarded to CECAFA teams due to the three hosts already occupying spots, increasing the total number of qualified teams to 19.
The final tournament will be held from 1-28 February 2025 in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The Championship of African Nations qualifiers will feature teams from various African regions, with the CECAFA region competing for an additional spot.
