Caceres seeking ACL success
Anthony Caceres has become Sydney FC's third signing in as many days, after signing a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old spent five month on loan with the Sky Blues last season, coming on as a substitute to help them win the Grand Final against Perth Glory.
He joins from Manchester City, for whom he signed in 2016 but did not make a senior appearance.
Straight after signing for City he was loaned out to Melbourne City for the 2016-17 season, and after a stint on loan with Al-Wasl he went back to Melbourne City for a second stint last year.
The midfielder played in both the A-League and Asian Champions League for Sydney FC last season, and says his aim for the coming campaign is to help the club progress in the continental competition.
The Sky Blues have only progressed from the group stage once in their five attempts so far, and have never made it past the Round of 16.
Caceres said: "I'm thrilled to be returning with Sydney FC. I'm driven to win more titles and to go further than this club has gone before in the Champions League.
"Tasting championship success last season was just the start and I'm eager to repeat that feat in 2019/20."
Coach Steve Corica said of the Sydney-born central midfielder: "Anthony was a fantastic asset last season and put in a number of impressive displays across all competitions. His skill and versatility make him a great option for us both domestically and in Asia and I'm looking forward to working with him again."
The Sky Blues have made Caceres their fourth signing of the off-season, with German midfielder Alexander Baumjohann and Socceroos defender Ryan McGowan having joined earlier in the week.
Sydney FC are 4/1 to win the 2020 A-League Grand Final.
