Business mogul praises Primeval Media for organizing testimonial match for Stephen Appiah
Business icon Sir Sam Jonah has lauded Primeval Media for the organization of the testimonial match to honour former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah.
Appiah is using the testimonial match slated for June 27 at the Accra Sports Stadium as his final farewell to Ghanaians following the announcement of his retirement.
The 34-year-old remains a cult figure in Ghana for his selfless dedication to the Black Stars spanning over a decade.
Primeval Media have taken up the responsibility to put together first a fundraising dinner and then the testimonial match to show a befitting appreciation to the unrelenting efforts made by the former Juventus star towards the contribution to national development both on and off the field of play.
The organizers have received plaudits from Sir Sam Jonah for initiative taken to honour one of Ghana’s greatest personalities.
“I commend you for this laudable idea. This is the practice in Europe when players hang their boots after a successful career,” he said.
“In our part of the world, it is the opposite. We are very poor when it comes to honouring our heroes.
“But Stephen Appiah is a hero who deserves to be celebrated for the services he provided to the nation.”
