Florian Grillitsch commented on the background to his failed move to Italy. "There were already some interested parties from Italy, there were already concrete negotiations, but Hoffenheim's demands were too high in the end, and that's why it failed," the 26-year-old Austrian told the APA.

According to reports, Hoffenheim demanded between twelve and 15 million euros in the transfer fee.

SSC Napoli and AC Milan in particular had put out feelers for the midfield strategist. It is unlikely, however, that Grillitsch will remain with TSG after his contract expires in summer 2022.

"Now I will stay at Hoffenheim for another year, will fulfill my contract and think that I will take the next step in the summer," he says and promises: "I will do the same as if I had a longer contract."
