Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has responded to criticism over his goal-scoring drought for Werder Bremen, saying he remains focused on improving, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Boniface has failed to score in seven appearances for Bremen since joining on loan from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The 24-year-old Super Eagles forward acknowledged his poor form but insisted he's unfazed by critics.

"Like I said, the media says a lot of things. When you don’t score, then people want to talk, but trust me, you don’t know anything about me.

"I’ve seen things, but I am strong, and anybody that knows me knows that I am a strong guy; those things don’t really affect me," Boniface said.

Boniface's struggles mark a downturn after a successful stint at Leverkusen, where he scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in the 2023/24 season.

Werder Bremen's Managing Director of Professional Football, Clemens Fritz, attributed Boniface's struggles to weight and fitness issues, saying the club is working with him to address these problems.
