Monaco moved top of Ligue 1 after a 2-1 victory over Lens in the fifth round of the French championship.

The hosts made the stronger start and took the lead in the 32nd minute. Paris Brunner finished the move after being set up by Matthis Abline, giving Monaco a narrow advantage at half-time.

Lens improved after the break and drew level in the 57th minute. Mathieu Udol converted Florian Thauvin’s pass to restore parity.

Monaco ultimately secured all three points through an own goal by Jonathan Gradit, which settled the match in the hosts’ favour.

The result takes Monaco to 13 points and first place in the Ligue 1 table. Lens remain on four points in 10th position.
