Ghana defender Daniel Amartey's move to Marseille collapsed at the last minute after the French giants failed to meet the player and his club's financial demands, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 20-year-old, who plays for Danish giants FC Copenhagen, was on the verge of sealing a four-year contract with Marseille when key issues cropped up, collapsing the deal at the last minute.

There were multiple reports in the French and Ghanaian media claiming that the deal has been sealed by Ghana's leading football website can exclusively and authoritatively confirm that the deal collapsed at the last minute.

Marseille wanted to pay FC Copenhagen six million Euros for the hugely talented Ghanaian centre-back and midfielder while the latter was holding out for two million Euros more.

The financial expectation of Amartey was far less than what Marseille was offering which conspired against the deal being sealed.

Marseille had the most serious offer on the table despite several interests from top clubs in Europe and FC Copenhagen have confirmed the deal has collapsed.

"We have received many inquiries and also several interest on Amartey, but none of them have to live up to FC Copenhagen or the player's demands," FC Copenhagen CEO Anders Hørsholt said.

"Therefore he is still our player with a contract applicable four more years. Then we shall see what the future holds."

This means the French club could return to the table for the Ghanaian centre-back in January when the winter transfer window opens.

Amartey was also linked with a move to English Premier League side Leicester City but the King Power Stadium side pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
