Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng arrived in the Portuguese capital Lisbon on Tuesday evening to complete his switch the local giants Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

The Schalke 04 outcast touched down at 4pm local time to start the formalities to help him seal the deal to stay in Europe and play in the UEFA Champions League.

He will undergo medical later on Tuesday before the deal is signed.

Boateng is expected to sign a two-year contract with Sporting Clube de Portugal.

The Portuguese will sign the player on a free transfer from Schalke but will have 25 percent of the amount of a future transfer.

Boateng, 28, turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ittihad last week to wait for suitors from Europe due to his strong belief in having another go in mainstream football.

Sporting Lisbon have reportedly opened talks with the Ghana international who has one more year with Schalke after he was told he has no future at the German side.

The club's Sporting Director, Horst Heldt, has fuelled talks of the former Milan man's impending move to join the Lions.

"We have heard that Sporting is interested in Boateng and we are dealing with them. It is very likely he will join them,” he is quoted as saying.

Boateng could be sold for a fee around €5 million.
