Reigning champions of the Nigeria Women Football League Edo Queens have crashed out of the Betsy Obaseki Woman Football Pre-season tournament, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Edo Queens were ousted 5-4 on penalties by Nasarawa Amazons on Monday at the University of Benin Sports Complex loss.

In a highly contested match, the ladies from Lafia got their first goal in 39 seconds of kickoff through a defensive errors, but Chioma Moses levelled up for Edo Queens with 16th minutes into the encounter.

Ijamilusi Folashade put Edo Queens in the lead on the 50th minutes before Janet ensured it ended squared when she equalised for Nasarawa Amazons in 63rd minute from the spot.

The defending Champions roar back into action putting the Lafia Ladies under pressure, but the Christopher Dan led soaked up the pressure, ensuring the game ended in a draw after regulation time after the regulation time.

Penalty shootout was needed to decide the winner of the encounter, and it was Edo Queens took the first one which they eventually missed. Nasarawa Amazons took theirs and lost it also.

At the end of the encounter Edo Queens scored four goals and Nasarawa Amazons scored five.

Edo Queens will play third place match against Heartland Queens FC, while Nasarawa Amazons will take on Bayelsa Queens in the finals.
