Bayelsa Queens FC has become the first team to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Yenagoa-based team, also known as the Prosperity Girls, defeated Naija Ratels 1-0 in a tightly contested match at the University of Benin Sports Stadium.

Despite a scoreless first half, Alaba Olabiyi's goal in the 60th minute proved decisive, securing a second consecutive victory for Bayelsa Queens and solidifying their position at the top of Group B.

The team will conclude their group stage matches on Thursday against Espoir FC of Benin Republic.
