Super Eagle forward, Victor Boniface ensured Bayer Leverkusen complete a league season unbeaten after winning the Bundesliga for the first time, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Die Werkself had already clinched their first league title, but their 2-1 victory over Augsburg on Saturday cemented their place in history as they finished the domestic campaign undefeated.

Leverkusen's unbeaten streak extends to 51 games in all competitions, breaking a 59-year-old UEFA record.

They are just two wins away from securing a remarkable treble, with the Europa League final against Atalanta in Dublin on Wednesday, followed by the German Cup final against second-tier Kaiserslautern three days later.

In a celebratory atmosphere at the BayArena, Leverkusen dominated Augsburg.

This season, Leverkusen won 28 of their 34 Bundesliga games, scoring 89 goals and conceding just 24, surpassing Benfica's 49-game unbeaten run from 1963 to 1965.
