Bayer Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Boniface is recovering well after his harrowing experience in Libya, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

"We have spoken," Alonso said. "What happened is not pleasant. But he [Boniface] has had enough time to train."

Boniface was among the Super Eagles players subjected to inhumane treatment by Libyan authorities ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The 23-year-old striker had spoken out about the incident on social media, detailing the harsh treatment they received before being forced to return to Nigeria.

Bayer Leverkusen face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday, and Boniface's involvement in training suggests he may be available for selection.
